Job Description:
As an Optometrist, you will perform comprehensive eye examinations, diagnose and treat ocular diseases, and provide pre- and post-operative care. You will work collaboratively with a team of healthcare professionals to ensure the highest standards of patient care and education. Excellent communication skills and a passion for eye care are essential for this position.
Key Responsibilities:
Perform comprehensive eye examinations to assess vision and detect any ocular abnormalities or diseases.
Prescribe and fit eyeglasses, contact lenses, and other visual aids to correct vision problems.
Diagnose and treat various eye conditions, such as glaucoma, cataracts, and macular degeneration.
Provide pre- and post-operative care for patients undergoing eye surgeries.
Educate patients on proper eye care practices and answer any questions or concerns they may have.
Collaborate with other healthcare professionals, such as ophthalmologists and opticians, to ensure comprehensive patient care.
Maintain accurate and detailed patient records using electronic medical record systems.
Stay up-to-date with advancements in optometry practices and technologies.
Qualifications:
Doctor of Optometry (O.D.) degree from an accredited optometry school.
Valid state license to practice optometry.
Knowledge of aseptic technique and infection control procedures.
Familiarity with medical terminology related to the field of optometry.
Strong understanding of optical principles and the ability to interpret prescriptions accurately.
Proficiency in medical coding for billing purposes.
Excellent sales skills to effectively communicate the benefits of eyewear options to patients.
Knowledge of ophthalmology procedures and treatments.
Solid understanding of anatomy as it relates to the eyes and visual system.
Familiarity with HIPAA regulations and patient privacy practices.
Strong interpersonal skills to provide compassionate patient care.
