Site Safety Professional

A leading construction company is seeking a dedicated Site Safety Professional to work on a multi-billion dollar commercial project in Austin. The company is committed to excellence in safety, integrity, and client value. This role is part of a team of Safety Professionals and reports to a Corporate Area Safety Manager under the Director. The successful candidate will have extensive experience with large commercial construction projects and a strong understanding of safety regulations and best practices.
Skills and Experience
The Site Safety Professional will provide leadership in the oversight, monitoring, and reporting of all HSE aspects related to the project. They will be responsible for conducting inspections, hazard assessments, investigating incidents, and assisting in the health and safety training of employees.
Minimum Requirements:
Bachelor's Degree from an accredited institution
Knowledge of OSHA regulations (30-hour certificate preferred)
Ability to train, influence, and motivate others
Clear understanding of safety regulations
At least 10 years of experience in occupational safety and health
At least 5 years of experience in construction safety, including housing or residential projects
Essential Job Duties
Immediately stop any observed imminent danger events or activities without consultation
Provide leadership and direction on safety and risk management at the project level
Assist the corporate safety director, project superintendent, and team in implementing all safety policies
Maintain a strong working relationship with project staff and employees
Keep the project management team informed of any risks and identify cost-effective solutions
Assist in the development and implementation of the project safety program
Participate in preconstruction safety meetings to prepare for risk issues
Conduct and document jobsite orientation for all employees, including subcontractors
Provide in-depth safety training based on tasks (e.g., fall protection, scaffolding)
Facilitate additional safety training to promote awareness among staff and employees
Audit the daily pre-task meeting process for thoroughness
Participate in or conduct site-wide safety meetings weekly
Conduct regular (daily) jobsite inspections
Assist in investigating project incidents and ensure records are completed and submitted properly
Participate in external safety inspections and claims management processes
Engage in project meetings to identify risks and propose cost-effective solutions
