We are currently initiating a search for a Senior Roadway/Highway Engineer to join our growing Transportation and Infrastructure Team. This candidate shall perform the following:
 


Provide subject matter technical support and leadership for improvement, and/or construction of roadway and highway transportation infrastructure projects in the public and private sector including roadway rehabilitations, new roadway designs, interstate widening/expansions, roundabouts, toll-lanes, intersection improvements, and bridge rehabilitations. 

Provide situational guidance to junior engineers ensuring that responsibilities are delivered and adhered to with a level of quality that meets or exceeds acceptable industry standards for design, safety, structural soundness, and functionality.
Assist in the management, growth, and development of the company’s transportation group.
Plan, organize and supervise engineering activities on roadway/highway transportation related projects.
Represent projects and the firm at meetings and conferences.
Make recommendations on project staffing.
Assist with technical concepts in proposal development, preliminary design phases, and presentations to client.
Assure that engineering services are commensurate with professional standards, client requirements, budget control scheduling, cost engineering/control, quality control and project objectives.
Provide innovative solutions related to the design of roads, highways, roundabouts, intersections, sidewalks, transit structures, and other significant transportation projects. 
Develop and maintain relationships with owners, contractors, and sub-consultants.
Maintain and continue to develop the firm's reputation for technical excellence in transportation engineering.

 
Required Qualifications
 

Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering, or closely related discipline (Master’s Degree is a plus).
10+ years of relevant post education experience in engineering discipline and prior civil design experience.
Professional Engineer license required in the State of Ohio (multi-state a plus).
Proficient knowledge of civil engineering principles, practices, process, design/build, and the application to permitting and project work-related issues.
Experience with infrastructure planning, design, and construction management; including active involvement in a variety of rehabilitation and new design projects.
Working knowledge of relevant civil construction laws, codes, regulations, compliance practices, and record-keeping requirements.
Ability to make technical computations and calculations involving the application of engineering principles, understanding plans and specifications, and making factual comparisons to the appropriate regulations.
Supervise/review a variety of design and analysis functions for road/highway and related projects.
Supervise/review aspects of design including vertical alignments, horizontal impacts, cross-sections, super-elevations, and grading and permit/plan preparation.
Supervise/review complex engineering computations and analyses, material quantity takeoffs, estimates and surveys.
Completes a variety of assignments such as drawings, specifications, and other materials suitable for procurement and construction purposes. Frequently interfaces with other Engineering disciplines as well as other departments.
Project management experience with small to mid-level projects including tracking hours and expenses for project work.
Ability to plan and conduct inspections and investigations on various aspects of the construction and design of roadway/highway facilities, applying applicable regulations and policies.
Effective interpersonal and communication skills when interacting with others, expressing ideas effectively and professionally to an engineering and non-engineering audience.
Highly capable self-leadership with attention to detail, multi-tasking, and prioritization of responsibilities in a dynamic work environment.
Ability to work independently and provide guidance and leadership to junior team or project members, with strict adherence to QA/QC.
Proficiency with technical writing, office automation, discipline-specific design software (i.e., MicroStation, AutoCAD, Civil 3D, ArcGIS, InRoads, Geopak, GeoSlope, ANSYS, STADD, HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS), technology, math principles, predictive models, spreadsheets, and tools.
Ability to work schedules conducive to project-specific requirements that may extend beyond the typical workweek.
Occasional travel may be required depending on project-specific requirements.
