Job Description:
Project Manager
Responsibilities:
Manage projects ranging to $20M or multiple projects totaling that value with little oversight from management
Identify value engineering and fabrication opportunities; present Customer with alternative options
Understanding commercial construction logistics, labor, material and equipment handling.
Ability to read and understand plans and specifications and translate the information to the operational realities.
Create site-specific safety plans and JHA’s
Procure and manage project subcontractors and equipment vendors
Have an on-site presence at the project site; have basic understanding of all project scopes (electrical, structural, etc.)
Establish project cost control centers for tracking of equipment, material, labor, subcontracts and miscellaneous costs
Estimate/bid changes; must be capable of thorough analysis of project document requirements, vendor offers and project requirements; negotiate with key vendors for competitive pricing
Direct BIM coordinators in the development of shop drawings and coordinate the planning efforts with field staff
Coordinating labor with superintendents, jobsite foremen and clients.
Track a project schedule including trade manpower loading for the project
Inspect the jobsite on a regular basis for contract compliance, workmanship, and safety
Understand and process field work orders, RFI’s, pay applications, change orders, submittals, etc.; requires an advanced understanding of the change order process and the ability to negotiate contracts and change orders
Mentor, train and develop Project Engineers and Interns, including delegation of tasks
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience
5-10 years of experience in HVAC construction
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Proficiency in all Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, Project, and PowerPoint)
Experience in Bluebeam a plus

Demands initiative, strong attention to detail, accuracy, and the ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks.
Requires outstanding verbal and written communication skills, including precise technical writing; must also understand and utilize different modes of communication (face-to-face, phone, email, text, etc.) appropriately.
Must have excellent interpersonal and customer service skills, maintaining a positive attitude while professionally engaging with colleagues, clients, vendors, and others.
Should be capable of working independently with minimal supervision while also being a cooperative team player.
Must be reliable, organized, and self-motivated.
Ability to travel within the greater Chicagoland area, including but not limited to Northwest Indiana.
