Our client, a growing Houston area law firm, is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Insurance Defense Litigation Associate to join their team. This role provides an exciting opportunity for an attorney with a passion for litigation and experience in handling complex insurance defense cases. As a part of the litigation team, you will be responsible for managing cases from inception through trial, with a focus on defending insurance claims and providing strategic legal counsel to the firm's clients. Key Responsibilities:
Represent clients in a wide range of insurance defense matters, including but not limited to personal injury, property damage, professional liability, and commercial litigation.
Manage a caseload involving complex legal issues, from pre-suit investigation to trial preparation and settlement negotiations.
Draft and file legal pleadings, motions, and discovery requests/responses.
Conduct depositions of parties, witnesses, and experts.
Represent clients in hearings, mediation, and court appearances.
Provide timely and effective legal advice to clients, keeping them informed of case progress, potential risks, and strategy.
Develop and maintain relationships with clients, opposing counsel, and other legal professionals.
Collaborate with senior attorneys and assist with case strategy and legal research.
Stay current on developments in insurance law, tort law, and trial procedures.
Qualifications:
Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.
Admission to the Texas State Bar.
3-8 years of experience in insurance defense litigation or related practice area, including premises liability, personal injury, construction defect and/or general liability.
Strong knowledge of Texas civil procedure, insurance law, and defense strategies.
Excellent legal research, writing, and oral advocacy skills.
Proven ability to manage multiple cases simultaneously and meet deadlines.
Experience in depositions, hearings, and motion practice.
A client-focused approach with exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work both independently and as part of a collaborative team.
A strong work ethic and attention to detail.
Preferred Qualifications:
Trial experience or an interest in taking cases to trial.
Familiarity with e-discovery tools and case management software.
