Wound Care Nurse

We are working with our client who has an opening for a Wound Care Nurse to work in their nursing home in New Orleans. This is a Monday - Friday position with a week of on call as part of the leadership team. Their job is to manage and monitor wounds to promote healing and prevent infections. Below is the job description for a wound care nurse:
Responsibilities:
Assess and evaluate patients with acute and chronic wounds, including pressure ulcers, diabetic ulcers, surgical wounds, and other types of skin breakdown
Develop and implement treatment plans based on the individual needs of the patient
Monitor patients’ progress and adjust treatment plans as needed
Administer medication, dress wounds, and perform other procedures as required
Educate patients and their families about wound care and prevention of future wounds
Collaborate with physicians, other nurses, and healthcare professionals to coordinate patient care
Document patient care and progress in electronic medical records
Maintain an inventory of wound care supplies and equipment
Stay up-to-date on the latest wound care treatments and techniques through continuing education and professional development
Qualifications:
Registered Nurse (RN) license in good standing
Wound Care Certification preferred, but not always required
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Attention to detail and ability to work independently
Physical ability to perform wound care procedures, including standing, walking, and bending for extended periods of time
Familiarity with electronic medical records and other healthcare technology
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple patients and tasks simultaneously.
