Mechanical Estimator

Our client is recruiting for an experienced Mechanical Estimator to join our client's team. This position will be crucial in producing quality and competitive mechanical, HVAC, and plumbing estimates, contributing to the success of the company in a dynamic and evolving market. The Mechanical Estimator will be responsible for accurately estimating mechanical work, attending pre-bid meetings, collaborating with subcontractors and vendors, and working with a team to finalize estimates within deadlines.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Project Estimation:
Attend pre-bid or team scope review meetings to understand the full scope of work required, even when limited information is available.
Review and understand all project bid documents to ensure comprehensive estimation.
Send bid information to subcontractors and vendors for quotations on outsourced work.
Complete estimate takeoffs using on-screen computer estimating software within set deadlines.
Work collaboratively with other estimators and departments to compile and finalize the estimate.
Participate in team reviews with management on bid day.
Bid Evaluation:
Evaluate subcontractor and vendor bids for completeness, schedule adherence, and compliance with specifications and bid requirements.
Prepare value engineering analysis in anticipation of the customers best interests.
Develop and maintain the scope of work narrative.
Post-Bid Support:
Assist field operations with the estimate after bid award.
Ensure proposal due dates and schedules are met.
Project Insight:
Anticipate requirements for producing estimates, even when limited information is provided.
Understand and prioritize customer satisfaction while maintaining attention to detail.
Qualifications:
Experience:
Minimum of 10 years of experience in mechanical estimating, specifically in HVAC, industrial, and/or plumbing estimating.
Experience with process piping estimation.
Strong knowledge of both Design-Build and plan-spec projects.
Skills:
Proficient with estimating software, spreadsheets, and computerized on-screen takeoff programs.
Ability to produce accurate, timely, and competitive estimates with minimal data.
Excellent communication skills with customers, vendors, subcontractors, general contractors, and owners.
Knowledge of HVAC, industrial, and plumbing piping systems.
Preferred Qualifications:
10+ years of experience in heavy industrial, HVAC, and/or plumbing estimating.
Expertise in process piping estimation.
