HVAC Commissioning Engineer

Our client is seeking a Commissioning Engineer to support the commissioning of mechanical and electrical systems, including HVAC, plumbing, fire protection, power, lighting, and building envelope systems. This role ensures that all systems are installed, tested, and operational before being handed over to clients.
Ideal candidates will have experience in controls, testing and balancing, or MEP construction/engineering.
Core Responsibilities
Project Planning:
Collaborate with project managers and design engineers to create commissioning plans, inspection checklists, functional testing sheets, and schedules.
Review proposals, specifications, and requirements to understand project needs.
Testing and Inspection:
Inspect installations for compliance with design specifications and regulatory standards.
Conduct or oversee functional and performance testing of systems and equipment.
Documentation:
Prepare commissioning reports, checklists, and detailed documentation.
Maintain thorough records of test results, issues, and resolutions.
Troubleshooting:
Identify and resolve issues during the commissioning process.
Coordinate with contractors and subcontractors to address and resolve deficiencies.
Team Collaboration:
Assist the commissioning team during design, construction, and warranty phase commissioning.
Coordinate internally and externally with architectural, engineering, and construction professionals.
Qualifications
Education:
B.S. degree in construction management, engineering technology, or a related field preferred.
Experience and Skills:
Familiarity with Building Management Systems/Controls and HVAC system testing and balancing.
Knowledge of engineering principles and systems.
Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
Strong problem-solving, troubleshooting, and organizational skills.
Effective verbal and written communication.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
Willingness to travel to project sites as needed.
