Technical Accounting and Financial Reporting Manager

Growing, publicly traded company headquartered in Phoenix, Arizona is adding a Manager of Technical Accounting to their staff. Reporting to the Senior Manager of External Reporting, you will serve as an expert on technical accounting matters, including new accounting pronouncements and application of accounting guidance related to revenue recognition, leases, and significant transactions (e.g., debt and equity financing, business combinations/mergers and acquisitions). The ideal candidate(s) for this role is someone that is an experienced senior at a Big 4 or large national firm that is ready to move into a manager role or someone out of a publicly traded company with a technical accounting and financial reporting background.Salary up to $150K plus bonus. Responsibilities:
Review and write memorandums on technical accounting matters to support the Company’s accounting positions
Coordinate with different departments in the corporate office and operational regions to stay current on developments that could impact the Company’s financial statements
Participate in the review of existing and proposed regulations of the FASB, SEC, and/or other authoritative bodies that formulate or have jurisdiction over financial reporting or accounting matters that will impact the Company
Help maintain and update the Company’s accounting policies
Assist in the review and preparation of the Company’s SEC filings, including 10-K, 10-Q, 8-K, and Proxy
Analyze peer company financial filings for best practice incorporation into Company financial reporting
Manage the accounting for the Company’s leases under ASC 842
Operate controls related to the financial reporting process and assist internal and external auditors with audit requests
Perform other responsibilities as requested by leadership
Background Required:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or similar
Active CPA license
6+ years of relevant technical accounting/financial reporting experience
Prior audit or accounting advisory experience in public accounting, or prior technical accounting experience for a publicly traded company
