About the area:
Living in Ontario and Wayne counties of New York offers a blend of rural charm and proximity to urban amenities. Ontario County, with its scenic Finger Lakes region, is known for its wineries, outdoor recreation, and small towns like Canandaigua. It's a peaceful area with a focus on agriculture, tourism, and nature.
Wayne County, to the north, is similarly rural but has a stronger agricultural presence, particularly in fruit farming (notably apples). It’s home to small communities such as Lyons and Newark, and offers access to Lake Ontario’s waterfront. Both counties provide a slower pace of life, affordable housing, and outdoor activities, while being within driving distance of Rochester, offering more metropolitan opportunities for work, culture, and entertainment.
Overall, the area is ideal for those who enjoy nature, community, and a quieter lifestyle but still value easy access to city conveniences.
