Director of Plant Operations

GENERAL SUMMARY OF DUTIES
Implements the strategic programming objectives of the hospital by incorporating them into the long-range planning process for facilities; planning for facilities, equipment, and other resources needed to support new programs and initiatives; maintaining existing property, facilities, equipment, roadways, parkways, grounds, power plants, and other physical resources used by hospital staff, visitors, and patients.
DUTIES INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO
Follow a business plan that supports the health center’s strategic goals.
Be involved with the strategic planning for the health center by participating in capital equipment allocation and capital improvements.
Schedules equipment installations and capital improvement projects.
Operates the department within budget guidelines.
Maintain the facility by assigning work orders and PM’s and follows up to assure work is completed.
Chapter Leader of both Life Safety, and Environment of Care for Joint Commission Standards
Holds the responsibility of Hospital Safety Officer and Chairs Safety committee.
Communicates with CEO, CFO, CNO, Associate Administrators and Department Directors on a regular basis.
Files Local, State, and EPA reports.
Responsible for contracting natural gas futures and hedges.
Coordinates unit, office, department moves within the facility.
Maintains records and organizes information.
Works with staff to develop leadership skills, resolve issues, and create a team response to issues.
Actively involved in energy audits and cost containment measures.
Assures appropriate level of understanding, awareness and compliance with all applicable Joint Commission, CMS, state and local agency laws, internal/external regulations, guidelines, policies, procedures and professional standards.
Other duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES
Demonstrate leadership, communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
Working knowledge for OSHA compliance.
EDUCATION
Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Hospital Admin, or Technical Training is preferred.
EXPERIENCE
5 years’ work experience as facility’s manager. Work experience in a hospital setting is preferred.
Engineering and basic safety knowledge in a healthcare setting preferred.
CERTIFICATE/LICENSE
CHFM or CBET within 1 year of employment
