Strategic Sourcing Manager

The Strategic Sourcing Manager will collaborate with Product Development, Brand, and other internal departments as well as external manufacturing partners as it relates to sourcing of goods and raw materials (metals, chemicals, paper and plastics)to ensure that the company operational needs are met, considering quality, service, and price to ensure continuity of supply for all client's plant locations.
The individual will also develop sourcing programs, at time specify suppliers and specific suppliers or commodities which actively support the strategic vision of client and is expected to actively contribute to the team to achieve those goals.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
Develop strategic sourcing strategies for specific categories being purchased using focused industry analysis, criticality analysis, business knowledge, competitive analysis, and sourcing expertise
Lead Buyer to develop short term and long-term category strategies and execute on cost savings plans as it pertains to the goals set forth by leadership.
Lead and coach internal business partners and team members on the sourcing process: gather requirements, market analysis, identifying sources, proposal evaluation, negotiations, contract creation, contract management, spend analysis, and long-term category planning.
Perform strategic sourcing work to manage risk and optimize the value/resilience of
materials/services sourcing
Build effective, strategic relationships with Supply Chain Management business partners and internal stakeholders, using personal influence skills to persuade others and gain support.
Align and collaborate with Business Executives of functional areas to understand business strategy and develop sourcing strategies to drive optimal value in the purchase of goods and services.
Establish supplier relationship management processes and continuous improvement goals/programs
Monitor market dynamics that impact materials/services availability and/or pricing
Provide product development support based on experience and knowledge of global material and component manufacturers.
Partner with internal clients to identify sourcing needs, develop buyer/market profiles, identify marketplace trends, and define acceptable service levels
Investigate and recommend new suppliers.
Provide regular communication to Business and Supply Chain leadership on project status, contract renewals, category performance, and various initiatives
Perform Additional duties as assigned by leadership.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in business administration or SCM.
Advanced degree (MBA, Master’s) preferred.
8+ years progressive in sourcing commodities such as; chemicals, metals, plastics and paper.
5+ years of experience in a strategic sourcing function.
Prior managerial/supervisory experience preferred.
High degree of proficiency MS Office Suite, Outlook & Internet applications required.
Strong analytical, prioritizing, interpersonal, problem-solving, presentation, budgeting, project management (from conception to completion), & planning skills
Strong verbal and written communication skills (including analysis, interpretation, & reasoning)
Solid understanding and application of mathematical concepts
Ability to develop and maintain collaborative relationships with peers and colleagues across the organization, as well as, internal and external clients
Ability to work well autonomously and within a team in a fast-paced and deadline-oriented environment.
Ability to work with and influence peers and senior management
Self-motivated with critical attention to detail, deadlines and reporting
